Counselor’s Message

Welcome to the 2017 – 2018 school year! My name is Ms. Duson and I’m the school counselor at Melva Davis Academy of Excellence. I look forward to ensuring that all students achieve their potential to be successful in their academic, social, and emotional lives by learning in a positive, nurturing environment, where the backgrounds and unique talents all students are valued and respected. My goal as a counselor is to assist students with overcoming barriers that may prevent them from achieving their highest academic, emotional & social success. I have a completely open door policy! Students are allowed to see me before school, during lunch (my door literally open) and after school. Students are also allowed to speak with me during class with the permission of their teacher, or they can come in and fill out a counselor request form and I’ll call them out at the appropriate time. Parents are welcome to call, email, or stop by at any time to speak with me. I look forward to a GREAT school year!

Students: Help me make 2017 – 2018 a year of kindness!

Kindness starts with you…

Hold the door open for someone. Carry someone’s book. Sit next to someone who by themselves. Help your parent’s with the dishes. Write a thank you note to a teacher.

All we need is one person to be a spark of kindness when someone needs it.… It starts with you!
